The last few days of 2014 found me driving everywhere around southeast Michigan. Anyone who follows me on facebook has seen only a few of the many places that I have been lately. A recap of the years financial statement has proven 2014 to be my best year ever with the company and I am looking forward to more growth in 2015, without the compromise of quality to the funeral homes that I serve.
While the rest of the world celebrated the end of a year last night and ushered in a new year, I was able to finish up the evening's driving jobs and make it home before the fireworks started, and was able to enjoy some quality time with some close friends.
I've spent the better part of the last year focusing my attention on moving on from the past. Putting the haunting ghost of many things behind me. It was only in the last few days that I realized that by focusing on putting it all behind me, I was in fact, dragging it along into the future.
So today, as the sun rises on a new year, instead of focusing on moving on from the past, I am making the decision to instead, be welcoming of the future. I know it's a minor technicality to some, but I feel that it will be the difference that I need in my life. I will focus my attention on the good things, paying no mind to the evils from my past or any time for that matter.
So I start today, like many, watching the sun rise. It is a reminder for me to always look for the brighter side of life. Each day I am given the chance to do something. It is my choice what I do with all 365 days of 2015.
And I hope that all my readers can find time each day to focus on the things in life that are going right. It can only be a great year, my friend, if we make it a great year. If you are looking for a better year or even a better day, then welcome to the Brighter Side of the Grave.
I want this to be a place where we can all come to share the little things in life that are going right. Not to brag. But to share our thoughts about what makes this world so wonderful to be a part of this year.
It is going to be a great year. I've got lots of wonderful adventures planned and I'm looking forward to sharing them all with you.

I've not seen a sunrise for a while. In a couple of weeks they'll be happening just as I go to work. That'll be good.
