Weekend water fun

I love our boat!
A loyal blog follower and old friend of my husband is visiting Michigan this week.
So we thought we'd take her and her sister out for a nice cruise on the river.
We just had some work done to our boat and it's ready for the long hot days of summer in Michigan.
So we thought.

We all got into the boat for our cruise. I started it and turned the bow upriver. Going slowly, not wanting to cause a wake near the docks, everything was great. When we cleared the dock area, I started to give it some gas.
That's when we stalled. Try as we did, it just didn't want to go.
Fortunately, I had turned upriver and eventually, we drifted back to the docking area.

That's when my loving husband jumped overboard and pulled us back in to the dock.
So, what was supposed to be a short boat ride, ended up being a forty-five minute "relaxing" float down the river.
Ironically, at the end of the month, we are taking a trip with some friends to do just that.
We will be floating down a river on an inner tube.
Which will be much cheaper than this little excursion.
So we put the boat back on the trailer and went for cocktails.
Maybe next time, we'll just do that first.
They say the greatest day of your life is the day you buy a boat.
The second greatest day is the day you sell it.

We are currently experiencing a phenomenon here in Michigan known as summer. It has been in the 90's for days and will be for at least another week.

For me, it means that I can finally get warm. While everyone else in the state is hiding in the air conditioning. Well, this left the local park open for us to explore all on our own. I know that Pugsley is a winter dog. So we tend to go places that have water for him to refresh in.
I was able to take his leash off him and let him run and play in the water as much as he wanted to.
Wolcott Mill is a beautiful old mill that has been turned into a park for everyone to enjoy. My niece even got married here a few years ago. The water is shallow and the furry one can reach the bottom while he swims.

But he doesn't like to get his head wet. You know he spends hours everyday crimping his hair just right and doesn't want to mess it up.

That was our weekend. No funerals since Friday's mess. But since it's so hot, I'll accept that. Who wants to stand in a hot parking lot in a black suit and direct traffic when it's pushing 100 outside.

I have heard that about a boat and ownership of one. All in all, I think it was a good weekend; glad the weather was warm enough for you to get warm! I know that feeling well after living in Montana for eight years!

take care of yourself; I'm going on a blog break for a bit; working too many hours and need to spend less time on line for a bit. Catch up with you some day down the line :)

If you really feel that now is the time to buy a new boat, then do so. You deserve to have a new ride. =) I wish I could play in the water like that! And can I also wish to be a dog, even if just for a day? Hahaha!
